Abstract

In this paper, a numerical analysis for the internal turret moored vessel which will be located at the 400m water depth is conducted. The target vessel has an internal turret which is located at 0.2Lpp position from the fore-side. 3 X 4 complex mooring lines are installed around the turret circumference. To investigate the motion response of the vessel and structural reliability of lines, model tests should be conducted. The KRISO ocean basin has 3.2 water depth which is 192m in prototype with scaling of 1:60. In order to represent the real scale condition precisely, equivalent mooring lines need to be designed. Truncated mooring lines are designed to supplement the restriction of the flumes water depth and increase the reliability of model testing. The truncated mooring lines are composed of two different chains in order to match pre-tension, restoring curve and variation of effective line tension simultaneously. Static similarities are compared by static pull-out test and free decaying test, and dynamic similarities are matched via regular wave test and combined environments test. Consequently, the designed truncated mooring system can represent the prototype mooring system relatively well in aspect of kinematics and dynamics.plex mooring lines are installed around the turret circumference.
