Striving to develop technologies necessary for constructing advanced maritime traffic infrastructure and maritime accident response

Marine Safety and Environmental Research Division endeavors to reduce maritime accidents and to minimize the resulting damage by developing the relevant technologies. To prevent maritime accidents, safety of vessel, sea crew, and maritime traffic environment (nature, infrastructure, laws and regulations, and systems) must be enhanced. To do this, the division is striving to develop technologies necessary for constructing advanced maritime traffic infrastructure such as e-Navigation and PNT(Positioning, Navigation, Timing), technologies for autonomous navigation and navigation supporting system, maritime GIS technology, technologies for preventing human error, technologies for maritime accident response.
