▶ KRISO to hold 3rd Future Ship Idea Contest... Open for submission until October 3rd

▶ Ideas from Elementary, Middle, and High School Students for Future Ships

□ The Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean engineering (hereinafter KRISO, President Booki Kim) is holding the 3rd Future Ship Idea Contest: Columbus Expedition Sailing into the Future for elementary, middle, and high school students nationwide. 

□ The competition finals will be held on October 22, and applications will be accepted from July 4 to October 3.

□ Organized by KRISO and the Daejeon Tourism Organization and sponsored by the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, The Society of Naval Architects of Korea, and Korea Research Council of Maritime Education, the contest first began in 2020 and marked its third anniversary this year. It provides an opportunity for students to experience designing ideas for future ships, fostering the growth of future scientists.

□ This Future Ship Idea Contest will be held under the theme of creative, logical, and practical ideas for future ships, and any elementary, middle, and high school student (young people born from 2004 to 2015) can participate.

□ The judging criteria for the elementary school category will be creativity, imagination, and quality; and creativity, logic, practicality; quality will be the focus for the middle and high school category evaluation. The preliminary round will be held on October 7.

□  Ideas selected in the preliminary round will be judged by a presentation evaluation in the final round. The finals and awards ceremony will be held on October 22. The prizes include cash awards of 500,000 won and 1 million won for winners of the elementary and middle and high school categories respectively, along with one-of-a-kind model ships based on the proposed ideas.

□ This contest is held in connection with the Daejeon Science Festival, Daejeon Metropolitan City’s iconic science festival; students interested in ships and science and technology are encouraged to participate.
