Ordinarily, when designing offshore structures, the safety of structure should be assessed by deterministic structural analysis under the condition of design code or instruction, so as to increase its safety as well as its economic efficiency. Structures or systems, however, inherently contain uncertainties such as material properties, environmental loads and tolerance in construction etc. Accordingly, rational design would reflect both the potential uncertainties and the economic efficiency. One of the most important methods for the structural strength assessment for the IMO Goal Based Approach (GBA) is Structural Reliability Analysis (SRA). The SRA for offshore plant presents safety level after structural reliability analysis and assessment for the functional requirement of the sub-structure or whole structure. Probability of failure and reliability index are obtained from the structural reliability analysis. The obtained results are comparedwith the allowable safety level, and assess structural safety for more reasonable structural design. The allowable safety level is defined by the past accident cases, social common sense, and experience/decision from the specialists. In this study, structural reliability analysis method and application plan for offshore structure under Safety Level Approach (SLA) based International Maritime Organization (IMO) Goal-Based Standards (GBS) will be discussed.-
