Basis and Purpose of Establishment

  • Basis of Establishment: Article 50 of the Articles of Association of the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology
  • Purpose of Establishment: To address current issues of the country and conduct creative research that takes the lead in establishing international standards by securing comprehensive research competence in developing, applying, and commercializing source technologies in the field of ships and offshore plants

  • Development of engineering and basic technologies in the field of ships and offshore plants and conducting convergence and commercialization research
  • Support of national policy-making in the field of ships and offshore plants and development of strategies to meet international regulations
  • Development and implementation of domestic and international university-institute-industry cooperation program in the field of ships and offshore plants
  • External cooperation with relevant domestic and international institutions in the field of ships and offshore plants and fostering of excellent experts
