Abstract
CFD calculations are carried out to investigate the intake inlet efficiencies and flow patterns inside the duct of waterjet propulsion system varying the intake shape. The Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved using a finite volume method and realizable k-e turbulence model is used. Multi-block grid topology is adapted to describe the details of complex duct geometry. Eight different IVR conditions are simulated for three types of intake ducts to find out the behavier of intake inlet efficiency. It is found that CFD tools can be used to design the intake duct of waterjet propulsion system.
