dc.description.abstract | This paper investigates the hydroelastic responses of very large floating structures (VLFS) for various stiffness distribution. Since the floating body considered in this paper is a very large plate structure, elastic model considering flexibility is valid instead of rigid body model in numerical analysis. The effect of hydrostatic stiffness, added mass and hydro-radiation damping due to fluid flow is also considered in the analysis. Hydroelastic responses are calculated by direct method. Higher-order boundary element method (HOBEM) is employed in the analysis of fluid flow and the plate structure is analyzed by finite element method (FEM) using Mindlin plate elements. An 1 km-long VLFS is considered in numerical analysis. | - |
