- Abstract
- Impact forces of highly nonlinear waves are one of the important factors in ocean structure design. However, they are difficult to estimate due to the complex interaction behavior. In this study, the numerical program based on N.S. equations is developed to investigate impact forces of steep waves generated by a numerical wave maker. The complex geometry of interaction is modeled by multi-block grid. The numerical simulation has been carried out by varying time step and grid size. The numerical results show much less values than experiment. From the analysis, it is concluded that impact forces vary quite severely regardless of wave breaking.
