Purpose of establishment To establish strategic partnerships in advanced maritime mobility—an emerging maritime transport paradigm based on eco-friendly, autonomous, and digital technologies—and to promote international collaborative research and technological cooperation.
Key functions
  • Establish cooperation networks among industry, academia, and research institutions in Europe in the field of advanced maritime mobility.
  • Collect and analyze the latest policy and technological information and publish specialized newsletters and reports.
  • Organize Korea–Europe international conferences, exhibitions, and related events.
  • Support international joint research in advanced maritime mobility and identify new research topics.
  • Support talent development programs for early-career researchers and professional experts in the field of advanced maritime mobility.
  • Cooperate in addressing international regulations and standards.

    08. Establishment of the KRISO Europe Center.

    04. KRISO was selected as the lead organization for the project “Establishment of a Korea–Europe Advanced Maritime Mobility Research Hub and Joint Research.”

    11. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) announced the Advanced Maritime Mobility Development Strategy.

Major Activities Establishment and Development of Korea–Europe Research Networks
  • Share information on international regulations and standards from global organizations such as the IMO and ISO and support coordinated responses.
  • Operate cooperation programs (workshops, conferences, etc.) with European research institutes and universities to exchange the latest technologies and policies in advanced maritime mobility.
  • Promote policy and technology exchanges and networking activities.
Building a Foundation for Korea–Europe Joint Research
  • Identify and plan joint research areas and research consortia (e.g., participation in Horizon Europe).
  • Support talent development programs and promote exchanges for next-generation researchers and experts.
Analysis of European Technology Trends and Publication of Reports
  • Publish Sea-Frontier, a newsletter covering trends in advanced maritime mobility. View Download Page
  • Collect and analyze information on maritime mobility technology development trends, policies and related programs, international organization activities, private initiatives, and regulatory and technological developments in Europe. (e.g., analysis of European issues and research trends related to the Northern Sea Route, reports introducing Norwegian industrial research clusters, and summaries of the European Maritime Environment Report 2025.)
