Abstract
This study investigates the hull surface pressure measurement and analysis of the KLNG(KRISO 138K LNG Carrier) hull form under regular wave conditions. The relative wave elevation was measured using resistance-type wave probes, and the hull surface pressure was obtained using strain gauge-type sensors. The global motion responses(heave and pitch) and added resistance, were compared between experimental results and potential-based numerical simulations. The relative wave elevation was analyzed based on the first harmonic component, whereas the hull surface pressure was decomposed into time-averaged added pressure, first harmonic, and second harmonic components to assess their individual characteristics. The measurement data obtained in this study are expected to serve as a valuable experimental benchmark for validating CFD-based analyses of added resistance and hull surface pressure. Furthermore, by quantitatively analyzing the correlation between relative wave elevation and hull surface pressure, this study contributes to a better understanding of the influence of local flow characteristics on seakeeping performance and added resistance.
