- Abstract
- KORDI is currently developing a 6,000m-class Remotely Operated Vehicle (K-ROV) to support oceanographic research. The ROV requires a highly efficient and downsizing power transmission system to carry out scientific missions under the limited capacity in space and weight of a small mother ship such as ONNURI. Therefore, the specifications of the electric supply power - capacity, number of phase, voltage, frequency, are designed focusing on the reduction of cable leakage and size of a step-down transformer. The required power for underwater system is 21 kW and it could not be transmitted with conventional cables. This paper presents the design process of the power system for the ROV operation including ground fault detecting system. The design results of the electro-optic cable system to transmit the required power are also described.
